Obsolete Infrastructures

A reactivation of an abandoned underground structure 16 meters below Plaza República in Quito, starting from the problem of urban residue. The design gives habitability to the void with natural light and ventilation, organizing three levels — subterranean, ground, and aerial — around the pre-existing ramps of a former parking lot. Green corridors link the new plaza to the La Alameda Metro station and to the seven educational institutions in the surroundings.
